Bio

Jokin MitxelenaBorn in San Sebastian in 1962, he spent there his childhood and his first memories are of that city. He studies Fine Arts in Bilbao. From 1985, as he starts working as a teacher, he starts publishing his first collaborations as an illustrator. Since then he focused in this activity more and more intensely.

In 1995 he transfers his residence to Germany in order to throw himself into his vocation. Currently he collaborates with Spanish and German publishing houses (SM, Alfaguara, Baula, Bromera,  Edebé, Elkarlanean, La Galera, Pamiela, Susaeta, Kumon, Teide, Casals, Destino infantil y juvenil, Edelvives, Junta de Castilla y León, Institut de derets humans de Catalunya), not only as an illustrator but also as a writer of children and young people’s books.

His signature is also habitual in Financial Times Deutschland, in addition to provide images for projects in different public institutions.
